Although India is now one of the most highly populated countries in the world and an emerging economic player, its artistic scene, although effervescent, is not well known by the French public. The project is in response to a commission from the Indian Embassy and proposes an Indian cultural centre in Paris. It is both a place for outreach and a tool for experiencing Indian culture in France. Within the abundance of the Parisian cultural context, the project is intended to be different from a museum approach, designed to promote discovery and learning about Indian culture through living practice. Led by the harmonies of shade and light, the new Indian cultural centre will have a varied programme and a strong identity.
