By focusing on the framework of a classic exhibition and the creative world of Basquiat, I decided to create a landscape in which they could cohabit for this museum space. In my opinion, artworks are too often taken out of context in an exhibition. In the case of Jean Michel Basquiat, it was essential to maintain a permanent link to his creative universe, as he painted surrounded by stimulation. A succession of conventional galleries display Basquiat’s works, whose shattered and sequenced appearance creating an external space that invites visitors to discover his many visual, musical and personal inspirations. The inspirational space is presented as a unifying ground employing different functions and overflowing with references.
