Our project for the exhibition “The music and art of Jean-Michel Basquiat” is inspired by the artistic and musical world of the artist, in which there is a recurring play on rhythm, composition, a kind of sampling and fragmentation. For this scenographic work, we wanted to approach Basquiat through a modern aesthetic. The general principle consists of reappropriating the codes of the white cube. We blow it up and fragment it in 5 different ways to respond to the singularity of each section. This gives the visitor a different experience from one space to the next. Breaking down this white cube allows us to create interactions between the works, the media and the music on display. Blowing up these spaces enables the visitor to experience Basquiat’s energy and reveals astonishing perspectives
