On the planet Mars, 76 million kilometres away, my project Sol 900 proposes setting up a sustainable habitation base offering the humans that occupy it the possibility of living and developing on this new territory. The base, consisting of inflatable, pressurised cells, examines the concept of long-term housing. It's a way of thinking about a “different” kind of architecture, which is almost exclusively indoors, or a distancing from the earth and everything we know that represents our habits, which must be disrupted, redesigned and adapted. This setting therefore creates private housing spaces where people can lead their family lives, added to which are public spaces helping them maintain the bonds that tie them to the earth.
