Will biological manufacturing replace traditional manufacturing one day? Although the biomimetic materials we know today are inspired by and reproduce the properties of the living, the biomaterials themselves come directly from and are produced by the living. By giving a framework and a structure to natural organisms, it is possible to guide their growth to obtain a precise form. A structure is never recovered in the same way, so it is possible to produce unique parts in series. The Duo project is a set of experiments around biomanufacturing, highlighting the collaboration between the designer and the living organism. The results of these experiences have enabled us to develop a range of everyday objects in salt, silk and mycelium.
