The patio transports us into a shared imaginary world. It bathes everything in warmth, colours become saturated. We listen to the running water in the fountain and feel time standing still. This simple central courtyard nevertheless goes beyond this picture-perfect image. It is the heart of the household and a place of connection, family, tribes. It is a space of relationships, between the people who live there and between this inner space and the surrounding space, between housing and its environment. A pact is formed around a patio.
