Glass is now omnipresent in our daily lives, on our mobile phones, our spectacles, our modes of transport, our windows. Lesser-known artistic glass, designed by artisans, is today full of innovative resources. With this dissertation, I hope to show how artisan glassmakers have become artists in their own right. Building on the heritage of a movement from the United States known as “Studio Glass”, these new artisans are enjoying a kind of creative freedom and seem to be bringing about a renaissance of this age-old skill.
