My project to renovate the old RER station at Massy-Palaiseau has been developed around two challenges of this future Southern capital of Greater Paris:
— Exploiting the excavated soil of the Île de France. The purpose of the place will be to show the potential of traditional or emerging raw earth construction techniques. These will be grafted onto the building, creating a contrast that showcases the Art Deco style of the old station.
— Creating an attractive meeting place in a city cut in two by a rail hub open to everyone, led by the city’s cultural associations.
The objective of this renovation is to turn this disused space into a physical, symbolic link in a chopped up city. It will bear witness to the need to provide spatial solutions.
