This dissertation traces the history of the investment property and its perspectives for renewal. The background section identifies the life cycle of the investment property (emergence, development, maturity and decline) and the combination of 3 key explicative factors: political, technical and societal. Family lifestyles, architectural innovations, interior designs and regulations are illustrative of these factors, which are analysed exhaustively. The prospective section seeks to mobilise these factors to offer a model for the investment property of the future, bringing together a wide variety of activities to house a mixed and intergenerational social population.
